A new campaign launched by the Law Society is appealing to members of the public to seek proper legal advice when needed. The ‘Use a Professional. Use a Solicitor’ campaign hopes to dissuade people from turning to unofficial alternatives in legal matters that can cause multiple problems and cost much more in the long run. The accessibility of information over the internet and unregulated, unofficial services can encourage some to go it alone, with potentially dire consequences. As Andrew Caplen, the Law Society president, described it:
Our latest campaign reminds the public that highly qualified, professionally trained solicitors are the best people to speak to for legal advice. Using a solicitor gives you the assurance you are dealing with a professional who is properly regulated and insured. The growth of unregulated and do-it-yourself legal services means consumers are exposed to non-professional advice, which can be more of a hindrance than a help.
Part of the campaign hopes to enable people to share their legal stories with each other. The Law Society are asking for members of the public to send in their experiences and tell them how a solicitor was able to help and guide them through their problem. Some of these stories have been uploaded to Youtube.
The campaign is focusing on six key areas of law that affect people every day: conveyancing, personal injury, wills and probate, business law, family law and criminal law. By using a qualified, experienced and professional solicitor, you can rest safe in the knowledge that you will stay informed and protected by an expert that will make sure the law is always working for you as much as possible.
If you need legal advice on any matter we have an expert solicitor who can help you. Get in touch today and get the help of a professional.
